The phased roll-out of Home Information Packs (HIPs) which began with 4 or more bedroom properties on 1 August 2007 has now been extended to the whole housing market.

As of 14th December 2007 every residential property advertised for sale in England and Wales will require a Home Information Pack (HIP) which has been introduced to improve and simplify the home and selling process. One of the compulsory documents of the HIP will be the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) that must be prepared by a Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA), who is authorised and accredited under a government approved scheme to carry out such assessments.
